After totaling \u20ac9,224,428 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.goandgrow.eu\/blog\/double-digit-origination-growth-for-bondora\/\">in April<\/a>, originations came to \u20ac10,421,636 over the month, a strong 13.0% growth rate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image is-style-default\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.goandgrow.eu\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/image-525.png\" alt=\"Bondora originations hit \u20ac10M for the first time in 2021.\" class=\"wp-image-63896\" \/><figcaption><em>Bondora originations hit \u20ac10M for the first time in 2021.<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-breakdown-by-country\">Breakdown by country<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Bondora continues to only provide originations in Estonia and Finland in 2021, although we&#8217;re anticipating reopening the Spanish market soon. Both countries&#8217; origins rose proportionally over the month, with Finnish originations hitting \u20ac3,152,306\u2014a 23.4% growth rate. Meanwhile, Estonian originations totaled \u20ac7,269,330\u2014up 9.0% on the month.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image is-style-default\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.goandgrow.eu\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/Loan-Origination-by-Country_EN_May-1-1024x138.png\" alt=\"Origination by country \u2013 May 2021\" class=\"wp-image-63902\" width=\"768\" height=\"104\" \/><figcaption><em>Origination by country \u2013 May 2021<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In May, Estonian originations shifted toward higher-rated categories; B-rated originations (24.2% share), C-rated originations (22.7% share), and D-rated originations (11.0% share) all increased in total share of Bondora originations. Finnish originations still comprised only D-rated loans, which grew to 30.3% of all originations\u2014up from a 27.7% share last month.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image is-style-default\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.goandgrow.eu\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/Share-by-rating-country-and-amount_EN_May-1-1024x224.png\" alt=\"Origination share by rating\/country \u2013 May 2021\" class=\"wp-image-63908\" width=\"768\" height=\"168\" \/><figcaption><em>Origination share by rating\/country \u2013 May 2021<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-loan-amounts\">Loan amounts<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The average Finnish loan amount decreased for the second consecutive month, totaling \u20ac2,661 in May, down 1.7%. Alternatively, Estonian loans changed course and rose to an average of \u20ac2,818 from \u20ac2,778 last month. This is a 1.4% increase month-over-month.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image is-style-default\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.goandgrow.eu\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/Average-loan-amount-E_EN_May-1-1024x448.png\" alt=\"Average loan amount \u2013 May 2021\" class=\"wp-image-63914\" width=\"768\" height=\"336\" \/><figcaption><em>Average loan amount \u2013 May 202<\/em>1<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-loan-duration\">Loan duration<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">After maintaining a 56-month loan duration for several months, this streak was broken in May, when Estonian loan durations averaged 55-months. Finnish durations averaged 56-months, which is consistent with last month.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image is-style-default\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.goandgrow.eu\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/Average-loan-duration_EN_May-1-1024x426.png\" alt=\"Average loan duration \u2013 May 2021\" class=\"wp-image-63920\" width=\"768\" height=\"320\" \/><figcaption><em>Average loan duration \u2013 May 2021<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There was a sizable 20.0% increase in 24-month originations in Estonia. This, along with increases in 6-month, 12-month, and 18-month originations, resulted in the average duration being pushed lower in May. Proportionally, Finnish loan duration lengths rose across the board. 60-month durations are still the most common, accounting for 87.1% of all originations out of Finland.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image is-style-default\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.goandgrow.eu\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/Number-of-loans-per-duration-in-months_May-1-1024x518.png\" alt=\"Number of loans per duration \u2013 May 2021\" class=\"wp-image-63926\" width=\"768\" height=\"389\" \/><figcaption><em>Number of loans per duration \u2013 May 2021<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-average-age\">Average age<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Finnish borrowers maintained their average age of 45-years after dropping last month. This is a number to watch moving forward to see if the average age of Finnish borrowers reverts to the higher numbers seen in previous months. Meanwhile, Estonian borrowers continue to average 37-years of age.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image is-style-default\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.goandgrow.eu\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/Average-age_EN_May-1-1024x427.png\" alt=\"Average age \u2013 May 2021\" class=\"wp-image-63932\" width=\"768\" height=\"320\" \/><figcaption><em>Average age \u2013 May 2021<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-income\">Income<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Estonian borrowers continue to see their average income decrease. This month, Estonian borrowers only averaged \u20ac1,462 per month in income, down 3.8% from last month and a decrease of 22.7% compared to March.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Finnish borrowers are experiencing the opposite trend. It was the second consecutive month that Finnish incomes rose on average, up 5.7% to a total of \u20ac3,431.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image is-style-default\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.goandgrow.eu\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/Average-net-income-E-P.M_EN_May-1-1024x437.png\" alt=\"Average net income \u2013 May 2021\" class=\"wp-image-63938\" width=\"768\" height=\"328\" \/><figcaption><em>Average net income \u2013 May 2021<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-education\">Education<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Estonian borrowers skewed more toward lower education levels this month. Junior high school graduates accounted for 20.7% of all Estonian borrowers, up from 19.0% last month. Meanwhile, vocational school education numbers for Finnish borrowers had a big jump, rising by 35.2% and accounting for 50.0% of all Finnish borrowers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image is-style-default\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.goandgrow.eu\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/Education_EN_May-1-1024x224.png\" alt=\"Education \u2013 May 2021\" class=\"wp-image-63944\" width=\"768\" height=\"168\" \/><figcaption><em>Education \u2013 May 2021<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-employment\">Employment<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Employment trends for Bondora borrowers remained consistent. 33.9% of all borrowers were employed for more than 5 years (compared to 33.1% last month), while 32.0% of borrowers were employed up to 5 years (compared to 32.2% last month).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image is-style-default\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.goandgrow.eu\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/Employment-duration_EN_May-1-1024x266.png\" alt=\"Employment \u2013 May 2021\" class=\"wp-image-63950\" width=\"768\" height=\"200\" \/><figcaption><em>Employment \u2013 May 2021<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-homeownership-status\">Homeownership status<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The only category of Estonian borrowers to decrease was borrowers with a mortgage, which fell by 12.3% from last month. Most Estonian borrowers are still homeowners, with the overall rate increasing to 44.1% of borrowers out of the country. In Finland, however, more tenants originated loans on the month. Tenants accounted for 38.0% of all Finnish originations, up from 33.6% last month and 28.0% in March. This is an interesting multi-month trend to watch for June.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image is-style-default\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.goandgrow.eu\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/Home-ownership_EN_May-1-1024x354.png\" alt=\"Homeownership status \u2013 May 2021\" class=\"wp-image-63957\" width=\"768\" height=\"266\" \/><figcaption><em>Homeownership status \u2013 May 2021<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-verification-status\">Verification status<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Once again, only 1 Finnish borrower was unverified in May, putting the verification rate in Finland at 99.9%. However, the verification rate for Estonian borrowers dropped to 96.7% from 98.2% in April.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image is-style-default\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.goandgrow.eu\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/Verification_EN_May-1-1024x147.png\" alt=\"Verification status \u2013 May 2021\" class=\"wp-image-63963\" width=\"768\" height=\"110\" \/><figcaption><em>Verification status \u2013 May 2021<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-originations-pass-10-million\">Originations pass \u20ac10 million<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">With a 13.0% growth rate in May\u2014and the fourth consecutive month of double-digit growth\u2014Bondora originations hit above \u20ac10 million for the first time in 2021.
